Barbara’s Legacy – Here’s How George H.W. Bush Secretly Honored His Wife For One Last Time At Her Funeral

Emotional and humorous tributes have been paid to former first lady Barbara Bush at her funeral service in Texas.

Mrs. Bush was the matriarch of a political dynasty that included two US presidents – her husband George HW Bush and her son George W Bush.

Past presidents, pizzeria owners, and historians were among the estimated 1,500 mourners at St Martin’s Episcopal Church in Houston.

Barbara Bush just showed why she has always been a class act.

She was loved by many conservatives and liberals around our country!

Former President George H.W. Bush wore what he reportedly calls “book socks” to his late wife’s funeral on Saturday to honor her passion for family literacy.

To honor his wife of 73 years and her commitment to family literacy, for which she raised over $110 million over the course of over 30 years, [George H.W. Bush] will be wearing a pair of socks festooned with books at today’s funeral service for former First Lady Barbara Bush,” family spokesman Jim McGrath said.

Bush, who has a habit of wearing colorful socks, wore a very specific pair to his wife’s funeral. He wore socks with books on them to honor his wife’s love of literacy and reading. It was a homage to Barbara’s life work to help with literacy among America’s children and the hundreds of millions of dollars she raised for programs to support reading.

Also, our First Lady was one of the many important people that honored Barbara Bush

The church filled up for the memorial service of the beloved public servant. The front row of the pew of the church featured some of America’s most famous political families. Melania Trump walked in, followed closely by Barack and Michelle Obama and then by Bill and Hillary Clinton.

While Melania attended the funeral alone and was surrounded by her husband’s political opponents, she was the beacon of class.

Melania stood proud smiling and waving at those in the audience. Multiple times she could be seen laughing and creating a polite conversation with her husband’s predecessor, Barack Obama. The two could be seen smiling on multiple occasions together.

Barbara would be proud of her husband and our current First Lady!
