Cops in Queens are hunting for a man caught on video speeding away from a traffic stop after hitting a mother and her baby and running over a 35-year-old man.
The incident began when police pulled over the black SUV at Wyckoff Avenue and George Street in Ridgewood district of Queens, NY City on Wednesday, August 10 shortly after 5 p.m.
Police said the driver of the black SUV was pulled over because of the vehicle’s loud exhaust and driving with a suspended license.
The surveillance footage from the street shows two officers standing beside the vehicle and questioning the driver. During the questioning, one officer asks his colleague to edge their patrol car forward and block the driver.
But before the officers could, the driver saw the signal and immediately sped off his car before police could react. He immediately hit a 28-year-old woman, who was pushing her two-year-old daughter in a stroller.
The impact hurled the mother into a parked car while the SUV appears to have driven right over the toddler in the middle of the street as onlookers screamed, the clip shows.
A 35-year-old man, who appeared to be unloading a commercial truck at the time, was knocked into the back of the truck.
Before getting knocked by the car, the man did a heroic act and pushed the two-year-old out of the driver’s way while putting his life in danger.
The mother immediately got herself off the ground and snatched her child from the road as officers rushed to help, video shows. Some civilians ran over to help the other man.
You can watch the video below (Warning-Graphic video):
The mom suffered a knee injury and her daughter fortunately only hurt her wrist, cops said. The man sustained a leg injury. All three were taken to Wyckoff Hospital.
The suspect’s car was later found in Brooklyn. Meanwhile, police are still searching for the driver of the black SUV.
The reaction of the police is very embarrassing, to say the least!
