Fox News host Laura Ingraham caused a massive controversy when she posted a tweet in which she mocked gun control activist David Hogg for having been rejected by four University of California colleges despite his high GPA. Thousands of people responded to Ingraham’s tweet, including Hogg.
In a response to Ingraham’s tweet, David Hogg called out twelve companies who had advertising deals on the Fox News show to boycott the show. The boycott had an effect. At least 10 sponsors have pulled their support from “The Ingraham Angle” and Ingraham herself announced that she would be taking a one-week vacation just after the incident and was temporarily replaced by guests.
But, now, a major sponsor has decided to resume advertising on Laura Ingraham’s Fox News talk show, a week after announcing it would quit ads with the conservative commentator.
Ace Hardware decided to keep its ads on Ingraham’s show.
A spokeswoman for Ace Hardware who then informed that the hardware store “do not have any plans to nationally advertise on Ingraham’s show in the future,” now emailed The Wrap indicating the company had “incomplete information” when it decided to part ways with the program.
“Advertising on any network or show is in no way an endorsement from Ace of the content contained or spoken within that program,” read Ace’s statement from Thursday night. “We appreciate the different points of view from our customers, and believe people should be treated with respect and civility.”
“At this time, we have not altered our current media schedule; however, we regularly review our media strategy,” the statement concluded.
Way to go Ace Hardware! I think Ace Hardware realized it’s the working people in this country who shop there and use their products, not the limp-wristed leftist rioters.
However, I’m very proud that your company chose to rescind your decisions. It means a lot to all Americans. Laura will be fine, she will regain her old sponsors and find new ones. And Hogg will be enrolling at the local community college.
