The shooting sent students rushing out into the streets as SWAT team members swarmed in and locked down the building, and police warned the shooter was still at large. Ambulances converged on the scene as emergency workers appeared to be treating possibly wounded people on the sidewalks.
Students are reportedly barricading themselves into their classrooms, while others were seen running out of the building with their book bags as police and SWAT teams swarmed the school.
There are reports that the shooter, wearing a burgundy shirt and black pants, may have fled the school, mixing in with the other students as they fled the building.
Television footage showed police in olive fatigues, with weapons drawn, entering the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, then dozens of children frantically running and walking quickly out.
The school remains on lockdown.
This is so sad and sickening and has to stop. A number of police officers are on the scene, at Stoneman Douglas High School.
This story is developing we will report to you if there are any casualties!
Let’s pray and hope that this situation will be resolved as quickly as possible! Hope the shooter will be found quickly.
