“Counted Culturally First”: Dana Bash’s Nervous Delivery on CNN About California Votes — Definitely Not Academy Worthy (Video)
Dana Bash just gave one of the most awkward, defensive performances on CNN in recent memory.
While discussing the slow vote counting in California, Bash claimed that “Republican votes tend to be counted CULTURALLY first” and that once the “votes that are there legally” are counted, the picture changes. She then insisted this is completely normal in California and definitely not a sign of fraud — it’s just President Trump trying to “sow misinformation” about election integrity.

The whole thing felt like media spin on overdrive. What does “counted culturally first” even mean? It sounds like a made-up phrase designed to explain away why results take forever in California while making anyone who questions it look like a conspiracy theorist.
Here’s the reality: California used to deliver election results in 24 to 48 hours — even after it became the most populous state in the country back in 1962. Fast results were normal for decades. The endless delays only became the new normal after California made permanent, no-excuse mail-in voting easy and turned voting into a weeks-long process.
Now, whenever anyone points out how suspicious the slow counting looks, the media rushes in to tell us it’s all perfectly fine and that questioning it is dangerous. Bash’s nervous delivery made it clear she wasn’t even comfortable with the talking points she was handed.
California’s election system has become a national joke. Ballots trickle in for days or weeks, totals shift dramatically, and the media’s job is apparently to gaslight anyone who notices. Meanwhile, the same people lecturing us about “misinformation” spent years pushing the idea that questioning mail-in voting was somehow racist or anti-democratic.
Dana Bash can call it whatever she wants — “culturally first” or otherwise. The rest of us can see what’s happening. California turned a straightforward election process into a drawn-out mess, and the media is doing everything it can to pretend that’s normal.
It’s not normal. It never was. And no amount of awkward on-air spin is going to make it look legitimate.
