The Media Mocked the Māori’s Haka in Parliament—Here’s Why It Was a Powerful Stand Against Globalism (Video)

A viral video of New Zealand MPs performing a traditional Māori haka has sparked ridicule from some media outlets, but its true meaning reveals a powerful act of resistance against globalist agendas and immigration policies.

Led by 21-year-old Hana-Rawhiti Maipi-Clarke, the youngest MP in New Zealand’s Parliament, the haka was a protest against a controversial bill aiming to alter the Treaty of Waitangi, a foundational agreement between the Māori and the British Crown.

Critics argue the bill would strip Māori of their historic rights and invite unchecked immigration from African and Muslim nations, violating the treaty’s original spirit.

The Treaty of Waitangi explicitly limited immigration to European, Australian, and British settlers, requiring Māori consultation for any changes. Today’s Māori leaders, standing firm on the agreement made by their ancestors, view this move as a betrayal of their sovereignty.

The haka, a ceremonial Māori dance often misinterpreted as theatrical, was an intentional, deeply symbolic act of defiance. Maipi-Clarke’s leadership electrified the chamber, even leading to a suspension of Parliament.

Mainstream media mocked the performance, dismissing it as performative and irrelevant. However, this criticism glosses over the haka’s significance in Māori culture: it is a declaration of strength, unity, and resistance against oppression.

This isn’t the first time Māori leaders have clashed with New Zealand’s government. In 2021, Māori leaders opposed the COVID-19 vaccine mandate, advocating for “mana motuhake,” or the right to make free and informed choices—a stance consistent with their broader fight for autonomy.

The haka in Parliament was a rejection of globalist policies undermining Māori traditions, sovereignty, and rights. Far from deserving ridicule, it should be recognized as a courageous stand against cultural erasure and political overreach.
