Watch it Until the End: US Troops Serving in Combat Debunk Kamala’s Debate Lies From an “Unexpected Place”

During a recent debate, Vice President Kamala Harris stood by the Biden administration’s decision to withdraw from Afghanistan, citing the immense cost and duration of the conflict. In an attempt to portray herself as a peacemaker, she made a bold and inaccurate claim, asserting that there is now “not one member of the U.S. military in active duty in a combat zone — in any war zone around the world — for the first time this century.”

But this claim couldn’t be further from the truth.

Mike DiMino of Defense Priorities immediately took to X (formerly Twitter) to call out Harris’ blatant falsehood. A video directly from the battlefield quickly surfaced, as troops stationed overseas responded with a biting question for the Vice President: “What are we?”

The reality is that U.S. military personnel remain deployed in multiple active war zones. Despite Harris’ rhetoric, thousands of U.S. troops are risking their lives in hazardous conditions across the globe, including in Syria, Yemen, Iraq, and Libya.

Earlier this year, three reservists tragically lost their lives at a poorly defended outpost in Syria. We still have around 2,500 troops stationed in Iraq, where seven were injured in an ISIS raid not long ago. In Syria, hundreds of American soldiers continue to operate in hostile conditions. Even the U.S. Navy is actively engaged in the waters around Yemen, facing off against Houthi fighters.

These regions are not just dangerous—they are officially recognized war zones by the Department of Defense. This designation is critical, determining the hazard pay, awards, and benefits that our service members rightfully earn for putting their lives on the line. Harris’ failure to acknowledge these ongoing deployments is more than just a slip-up; it’s a betrayal of the brave men and women still facing daily threats in these conflict zones.

In response to Kamala Harris’ false claim during the debate, a powerful video has emerged directly from the battlefield, where U.S. troops currently stationed in active combat zones push back against her misleading narrative. The video, taken from what appears to be a forward-deployed location, shows several American soldiers incredulously reacting to her assertion that “not one member of the U.S. military is in a combat zone.”

One soldier sarcastically asks, “What are we, then?”—a simple yet poignant question that cuts to the heart of the falsehood Harris presented. The video, circulating widely on social media, has struck a chord with many Americans, showcasing the frustration of service members who feel neglected and misrepresented by their own government.

Video below:

The soldiers’ blunt remarks and visible frustration serve as a powerful reminder that despite political claims, many men and women in uniform are still serving in dangerous, active combat zones across the globe. Their direct rebuttal, filmed in what appears to be an unexpected and harsh environment, is a stark contrast to the polished political rhetoric seen during the debate.

The message from the troops is clear: the reality of combat doesn’t disappear just because politicians choose to ignore it. This video, which has since gone viral, stands as a testament to the truth, reminding the American people of the sacrifices our soldiers continue to make—despite being dismissed by their own leaders.

Whatever one thinks about the wisdom of these deployments, the fact remains: U.S. troops are in harm’s way, and it’s inexcusable for a would-be commander-in-chief to ignore their sacrifice. These soldiers deserve recognition, not dismissal.
