After more than a year of warnings, the Trump administration has announced that the United States is withdrawing from the United Nations Human Rights Council, citing hypocrisy and anti-Israel bias. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Ambassador to the U.N. Nikki Haley announced the decision in a joint statement Tuesday.
“We have no doubt that there was once a noble vision for this council,” Pompeo said. “But today, we need to be honest: The Human Rights Council is a poor defender of human rights.”
“The Human Rights Council enables abuses by absolving wrongdoers through silence and falsely condemning those that committed no offense,” Pompeo said. “Its membership includes authoritarian governments with unambiguous and abhorrent human rights records, such as China, Cuba, and Venezuela. There is no fair or competitive election process, and countries have colluded with one another to undermine the current method of selecting members.”
“I want to make it crystal clear that this step is not a retreat from human rights commitments,” Haley told the media. “On the contrary, we take this step because our commitment does not allow us to remain a part of a hypocritical and self-serving organization that makes a mockery of human rights.”
It seems that President Trump is not alone in his fight!
Israel thanks President Trump, Secretary Pompeo and Ambassador Haley for their courageous decision against the hypocrisy and the lies of the so-called UN Human Rights Council.
Said, Benjamin Netanyahu.
But also another country might follow the U.S.
Australian Senator Fraser Anning Posted this video on Social Media with the following description:
“Australia needs to find the courage to join the United States in refusing to grant the UN Human Rights Council the illusion of moral legitimacy.
A group that apparently believes it is acceptable to suppress Christianity, spread radical Islamic terrorism and butcher white farmers has zero authority on any moral issue and is an organization that Australia should not have anything to do with.
The 47 member council hosts some of the most savage and despotic nations in the world.
This worm-eaten body of foreign despots and failing states has lost all moral legitimacy.
Does Australia really want to be partners with some of the worst Human Rights offenders in the world?
The Human Rights Commission is full of human rights abusers and a joke. All but those on the left realize this fact!
