Plano, TX – A chilling exposé by a retired police lieutenant has blown the lid off a planned Islamic “mega-city” near Dallas, Texas, raising alarm bells about a Sharia-compliant enclave that’s been operating in plain sight for over a decade. In a viral video shared on X by activist Amy Mek (@AmyMek), Lt. (Ret.) Douglas Deaton, a 26-year veteran of the Plano Police Department and SWAT tactics expert, delivered explosive testimony during a Collin County Commissioners Court hearing on March 31, 2025. His revelations about the East Plano Islamic Center (EPIC) and its ambitious EPIC City project have sparked outrage among conservatives and prompted Texas Governor Greg Abbott to launch multiple investigations.
Deaton’s testimony, viewed over 500,000 times on X, detailed how EPIC has already established a Sharia-adherent enclave in Plano, comprising 74 homes sold exclusively to Muslims affiliated with the center. At its core is a sprawling mega-mosque, flanked by Islamic schools enforcing religious doctrine and a UIF Corporation offering Sharia-compliant financial services. Most alarming, Deaton revealed a “fortress-like” residence—owned by a senior EPIC leader and co-founder of the Yaqeen Institute, a group that openly advocates for Sharia in the West—strategically built next to the Plano Police Academy, overlooking SWAT vehicles, bomb trucks, and tactical zones. “I urge everyone to visit their website and see for yourself what they say about instituting Sharia,” Deaton warned, adding, “This is not about radicals hiding in plain sight. They’re not hiding.”

The retired lieutenant explained that Plano was just “Phase One.” EPIC City, a 402-acre development near Dallas, is “Phase Two”—a massive expansion featuring over 1,000 homes, a K-12 Islamic school, retail centers, and senior housing, all centered around another mega-mosque. Deaton’s testimony aligns with concerns raised by Governor Abbott, who on April 4, 2025, announced that the Texas Rangers have opened a criminal investigation into EPIC for potential violations, including building without permits and operating an unauthorized funeral home. “Sharia law is not allowed in Texas,” Abbott declared on X , a sentiment echoed by conservatives like Wall Street Apes, who wrote, “People who come to the United States need to assimilate. We do not need or want miniature countries within the country.”
WOAH 🚨 The all Muslim City in Texas being built called Epic City was building the entire city WITH NO BUILDING PERMITS

The project has drawn fierce backlash for its apparent rejection of American values. X user @praytoslaytoday noted similar concerns in Irving, Texas, where an Islamic community features streets named after Muslim figures and homes adorned with Islamic sayings. For Trump supporters, EPIC City represents a broader threat to national identity. “This isn’t diversity—it’s a parallel society,” wrote @Mar50cC5O, reflecting a growing sentiment among conservatives that such enclaves undermine assimilation. With the DOJ and Texas Rangers now involved, Deaton’s bombshells have set the stage for a showdown over Sharia in the Lone Star State—and conservatives are rallying behind Abbott to stop it.
