Armed Off-Duty Police Officer Tries To Stop Shoplifter In Lowe’s Parking Lot – It Didn’t End Well (Video)
An off-duty police officer was seriously injured while trying to help detain a shoplifting suspect at Lowes on Tuesday and police are still searching for the suspect.
Beech Grove, Indiana Police responded to the Lowes around 10:30 a.m. for a report of a man who was shoplifting a power tool.
The officer pulled his gun and demanded the perp step out of the vehicle but instead put it in reverse, nearly tearing the driver’s side door off and running over the officer.
Police say the police officer saw the suspect being chased on foot by another citizen in the parking lot and decided to help. When the suspect got into a vehicle the police officer tried to grab him but almost lost his life because he didn’t use his gun!
The entire incident was caught on video, including the driver’s plates.

The person who took the video stuck around after the incident and found out the guy with the gun was an off-duty police lieutenant.
