BREAKING VIDEO: Chilling New Angle Emerges of DC Mid-Air Collision—What’s Up With That Blackhawk?
New footage has emerged showing the shocking mid-air collision between an American Airlines regional jet and a U.S. Army UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter over the Potomac River near Washington, D.C. The horrifying crash left no survivors, killing all 67 people aboard both aircraft.
The latest reports suggest that the Black Hawk may have been off its approved flight path before the collision, raising serious questions about what really happened in the moments leading up to the tragedy. The helicopter was reportedly flying at a higher altitude than expected, according to sources familiar with the preliminary FAA investigation.
Making matters worse, the air traffic control tower at Reagan National Airport was severely understaffed. A single controller was reportedly managing both landing and departing planes, as well as helicopters—responsibilities that are typically divided between at least two controllers. A supervisor allegedly combined these duties earlier in the evening and let one controller leave, creating a dangerously chaotic situation in an already congested airspace.

Fox News has reported additional details about the Black Hawk’s crew. The helicopter was piloted by an experienced instructor with 1,000 flight hours, but the co-pilot—a woman—had just 500 hours of experience. The flight was reportedly part of an evaluation mission.
Was this simply an unfortunate accident, or was there more to the story? The full investigation is still ongoing, but one thing is clear—this tragedy could have been avoided.
