Obama DHS Secretary Pushed Back Against Democrats Calling For The ICE To Be Abolished
The DNC party went off the rails into looney town rather than engage in the kind of deep introspection an adult would have after such a bad loss. They are too immature to admit their policies were shunned by the American people and are now in the death spiral of their party as they choose to double and triple down on those same rejected policies
These days, as the Trump administration faces public backlash for its immigration policies, more and more Democrats are demanding for the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to be abolished. But, in a Friday op-ed published in the Washington Post, The Obama administration DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson stood up against Democrats’ demands and defended ICE.
The op-ed, titled, “Abolishing ICE is not a serious policy proposal,” likened demands to abolish ICE to a hypothetical demand from those who wanted to end the Vietnam war by abolishing “the entire Defense Department.”
“Obviously, that would have completely compromised national security,” Johnson wrote, adding that ending the agency “would compromise public safety” as well.
“Calls to abolish ICE only serve to sow even greater division in the American public and in its political leadership, damaging any remaining prospect of bipartisan immigration reform,” wrote Johnson.
This is one of the things Americans hate about Washington — that politics has become the end, not the means. Most Americans — whether in Laredo, Tex., or Queens, N.Y. — do not embrace the emotional and absolutist views of immigration on the extreme right or on the extreme left. They simply want to secure the country’s borders, to eliminate the inefficiencies in the system and to treat fairly the undocumented people who were brought here as children and have committed no serious crimes.”
Mr. Johnson is right. He is one of the few Democrats that has not lost his common sense and appears he is not infected with the – Trump Derangement Syndrome. With each public defense of ICE, Jeh Johnson is proving that at least one Obama appointee left the White House with his brain still attached and functioning.
