President Trump Rips European Union States For Their “Big Tariffs” Against US Goods
On Tuesday, President Donald Trump will depart for the seventh foreign trip of his presidency, visiting Western European countries. Trump is expected to make four stops over the seven days: Brussels; London; Glasgow, Scotland; and Helsinki.
But, right before his departure, Trump ripped European Union member states for their “big tariffs” against US goods.
On Twitter, Trump wrote: “Getting ready to leave for Europe. First meeting – NATO. The U.S. is spending many times more than any other country in order to protect them. Not fair to the U.S. taxpayer. On top of that we lose $151 Billion on Trade with the European Union. Charge us big Tariffs (& Barriers)!”

Just five days later, German Chancellor Angela Merkel announced that her government would be open to back lower tariffs on U.S. auto imports as a potential European Union (EU) concession to the Trump administration – just one day after CEOs of Germany’s biggest carmakers reportedly voiced support for eliminating such tariffs entirely.
“I would be ready to support negotiations on reducing tariffs, but we would not be able to do this only with the U.S.,” she said, adding that all deals will be “common European position and we are still working on it.”
The EU tariff rate on all U.S. car imports is 10% while the U.S. tariff on imported European cars is 2.5%.
America just keeps on winning, thanks to President Trump’s Leadership! They are all going to cave! No one wants tariffs! It’s just a tool to pressure countries to bargain honestly! Merkel is just the first to give in. Expect the rest of Europe, Canada, and China to follow their lead.
